Spring in Woodfield!

Spring in Woodfield!

AGM, April 19 at 6:30, Bishop Cronyn Church

This year, we're moving the AGM to Bishop Cronyn Memorial Church at the corner of William and Queen! Why the move? A year ago, when the church was looking for tenants to take over the historic space, a deal was struck between the church and Clark Bryan, executive director and founder of the Aeolian Hall, to lease the space to El Sistema, a free UNESCO award winning music program for children and youth. To welcome our new neighbours to the community, we wanted members to learn more about the program and meet Clark, who is our special guest speaker this year!

This is a Voting Year! Most of the members of the current executive have agreed to stay on for the coming term. However, if someone would like to stand for a specific position at the AGM, let us know by April 9 and we will add your name to the nominations.
Also at the AGM we will recognize our Neighbour of the Year for 2016! Nominations welcome! Email katerapson@gmail.om. We'll also announce the Woodfield Streetscape Improvement Awards.

Again this year we are launching a membership drive! A robust membership count is important not only as an indication of community engagement but more members means we have a louder voice on issues impacting our neighbourhood. So renew or sign up for the first time! The cost of a lifetime membership per household is $50 and a 4-year membership expiring December 31, 2020 costs $5.

Spring Plant Exchange, May 20
Spring is here and that means the 22nd Annual Woodfield Plant Sale and Exchange will happen Saturday, May 20. Skip breakfast and treat yourself to coffee, a tasty breakfast sandwich or baked goods while you browse the beautiful selection of plants that your neighbours have dug up and donated to share and spread to new gardens. As usual there’ll be compost, mulch, annuals, perennials and native trees from Trees for Woodfield. Come early for a great selection.

Summer Porch Concerts
Dave and Denice, organizers of the incredible porch concerts last summer, are looking for locations for this coming summer! Send David an email (woodfieldporchconcerts@gmail.com), with your address, a general description of your availability for June and July, and an idea of music genres you like! They are looking to book the June shows asap, and will be looking at July/August a bit later. If you have room on your porch/lawn for the performers need and the audience, email Dave! He provides the Port-a-potty and sound engineer and all gear. Great fun!

That's it for now!

Ward 13 Decides

Ward 13 has been selected to pilot a new project developed by the City! Residents have been asked to propose ideas and vote on how to spend a portion of the municipal budget in their neighbourhoods. City Council has directed staff to facilitate two Neighbourhood Decision Making Pilot Projects in 2016. For all the details, click here.

This is a great opportunity to submit ideas or champion one for the betterment of our community!

Some ideas that have been submitted include community message boards, benches, pop-up art galleries, book huts, and more.

Best Neighbourhood: Vote Now!
Yes, Woodfield has once again been nominated! Let's all vote for this great neighbourhood by Oct. 17!

Our new web site!

Wednesday, March 11, 2015

Hey look, we have a new website! One Woodfielder...thank you Adam... has been busy building a new site. While the old site worked great, there's some new bells and whistles with the new one that we're excited to roll out.

All of the old information is here, just organized a little differently. But we'll be adding new features over the coming months, like a photo gallery, important links to City Hall, membership features, news feeds, heritage information, and lots more. The aim is to eventually have a site that will be a go to spot for everything Woodfield! It will take a little time to get all that done, so bear with us!

I hope you enjoy the new site. If there's something you hope to see here, email us at info@historicwoodfield.com.

Be sure to come back often to check out what's new!!

Bye for now,
